Short Series Matrix

A short series is a series with fewer than twelve members. If fewer than twelve (and more than one) pitch classes are entered into the order position elements of the Key Entry Window you can use the Create Matrix button to create an n x n short-series matrix of dimension 2x2 through 11x11 inclusive.

The 4-note series in Fig. 1 is Bb-A-C-B in Fig. 1. Click the Create Matrix button to create an n x n short-series matrix. Fig. 2 shows the four possible outcomes.

a. Letter Name [C=0]	b. Letter Name [Bb=0]

c. Integer [C=0]	d. Integer [Bb=0]

Notice that the two movable-zero matrices (Fig. 2b and Fig. 2d) label series forms in the usual manner (P0 across the top row, I0 down the first column, etc.), while in the two fixed-zero matrices (Fig. 2a and Fig. 2c) series form indices match the first pc of the respective P-form and I-form. Please note that the Create Matrix button can also be used to produce a 12x12 matrix.
