Analytical Commentary
This phrase ending on V presents a quintessential example of a half cadence (HC). Like the previous example, the bass line opens with an outline of the vi chord. Notice the arch shape of the melody and study how it guides the phrase over the course of the Tonic expansion. {Chorale 365, mm. 1-2}
